About the Filmmakers

Director/Producer: Jenny Wilson
As the daughter of rescuer Ted Wilson, Jenny Wilson has been inspired throughout her life by the climbers involved in the 1967 rescue and the compelling rescue story. Recently she acted on this passion believing the story should be documented in film. Previously she served as the executive director of Institutional Advancement at the Moran Eye Center, a member of the Salt Lake County Council and as a Chief of Staff to a member of Congress. She has also worked for the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the Olympic Winter Games of 2002, and the Sundance organization. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah and a master's from the Harvard Kennedy School.
Meredith LavittDirector/Producer: Meredith Lavitt
Meredith Lavitt is the founder of Swirl Productions, an independent production company focusing on documentary films for the theatrical and broadcast markets. In addition, Lavitt is Associate Director, Utah community programs and Film Forward, for the Sundance Institute. She previously worked from 1993 to 2005 as the Associate Director of the Sundance Institute Film Program. In this capacity she worked closely with filmmakers advising them on the development of their films and the marketplace. She is also producing, YOU MUST REMEMBER THIS, and produced the critically acclaimed, HOMEFRONT, which premiered at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival and on Showtime. Lavitt holds a bachelor's degree from Brown University.
Writer/Director: William A. Kerig
William A. Kerig is an award-winning writer, producer, director, and former professional skier. He wrote the book, THE EDGE OF NEVER, and was the writer/director and and an executive producer of the Showtime Networks 2009 documentary feature film THE EDGE OF NEVER. He co-produced and was second-unit director of the 2007 Sony Pictures Classics film STEEP. In addition to producing for CBS, ABC, and Fox Sports, he co-produced, wrote, and was second-unit director of NET WORTH, a 1999 Blockbuster Entertainment feature film starring Daniel Baldwin. In addition to NORTH FACE 1967, his current project is READY TO FLY, a documentary feature film slated for release in the fall of 2011. Kerig is a member of the Director’s Guild of America.

Line Producer: John Logan Pierson
John Logan Pierson has worked on broadcasts for MTV, National Geographic, Showtime, NBC, RUSH, and OLN. Prior to joining the Grand Rescue team, Pierson directly assisted mega-Producer Scott Rudin on his numerous film, television, and Broadway properties. Previously, Pierson founded and grew production company 20/20 Pictures. With 20/20, he produced multiple award winning music videos, commercials, and digital content packages for clients including the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards, Men's Health, Adidas, the New York Rangers, and Us Weekly. Pierson is a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and the Stern School of Business.
Director of Photography: Peter Pilafian
PETER PILAFIAN is a Director of Photography and film maker who has been working in the industry for over 30 years. His most recent Emmy nomination was in 2008 for a PBS series called "Craft in America." His extensive list of credits as a cinematographer includes feature documentaries such as "Riding Giants", "Dogtown and Z-Boys", "The Edge of Never" (Fall of 2009), "Snowblind" (Iditerod 2008), and many television series such as "Survivor". "The Larry Sanders Show", "The War That Made America", "Scientific American New Frontiers", etc. Pilafian recently produced a Megastructures for National Geographic on the construction of an aerial Tram. After many years working out of Los Angeles, he currently lives in Wilson, WY and skis as much as possible when not filming on assignment in Yellowstone, Canada, Alaska, France, Switzerland, to name but a few recent locations.
